The official press release was issued yesterday morning by Pantone, causing a bit of frenzy in the design world as a whole.  Color of the Year influences not only the fashion industry, but interior design, graphic design, all the way down to popular wedding colors.

Radiant Orchid was chosen out of the Spring 2014 color forecast by Pantone.  The purple hue is categorized by its pink undertones, allowing for many variations of the color.  The symbolic value behind the choice of Radiant Orchid is just as strong and complex as the color itself.  Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, was quoted:

“Purple is known because it is magical, it’s a color that draws you in, it’s a color that speaks to creativity.  So wearing it enhances your feeling of being creative, being more creative, being more innovative… And that is so important in today’s life. We’re all looking for that touch of uniqueness.”

Purple hues have not been the focus in quite some time; however, the fact that the color signifies creativity and individuality will definitely lead to an overall embracement of the fresh color in the year to come.

Get Inspired!
